Waterlooville Builders case study: a building firm’s jobs, filmed every month.

This Waterlooville Builders case study is the plainest example we have of what we actually do. A Hampshire building firm, real jobs, and a camera on site every month. No brand workshop, no strategy deck — just the work being filmed properly and put where people can see it.

The problem it started with

Waterlooville Builders is a building firm on the Hampshire side of our patch. Extensions, renovations, full refurbishments — the kind of work where the finished result is genuinely impressive and almost nobody outside the customer’s family ever sees it.

That is the problem every builder has. The work sells itself, but only to the person standing in the room. Everything else — the strip out, the steels, the first fix, the reveal — happens and then disappears, because at the end of a long day nobody is going to stop and film it, edit it and write something to go with it.

So the firm had the same thing most good builders have: a strong reputation locally, a diary that filled by word of mouth, and almost no evidence of any of it anywhere a stranger could find.

What we do, every month

We come to the job

We turn up on site and shoot it. Progress on a live job, the finished rooms, and the parts of the build a customer never normally sees. It is filmed around the work, not instead of it.

We cut it deliberately plain

No stock footage, no swooping graphics, no gimmicks. For a builder that stuff gets in the way. Clean cuts, the work on screen, captions so it reads with the sound off.

It goes out on a schedule

Edited, captioned, written and posted. The firm does not have to remember, approve a queue or chase anything. That is the entire point of paying somebody to do it.

Why the edit is deliberately boring

This is the part people argue with us about. A lot of agencies would put motion graphics, drone shots and a music-video edit over building work, because it looks like more money has been spent. It also looks like an advert, and people scroll adverts.

A homeowner deciding who to let into their house for three months is not looking for production value. They are looking for evidence: does this firm do neat work, do they finish things, does the site look organised, would I be comfortable with them here. Every effect you add between them and the work makes that harder to judge, not easier.

So the edit stays out of the way. Captions are on every video because most people watch with the sound off, and they are sized to be readable on a phone in one hand. Beyond that, the footage does the talking.

What a builder should take from this

  • The content already exists. Every job is a fortnight of material walking past you. The only thing missing is somebody whose job it is to capture it.
  • Filming does not have to slow the job down. We work around the trades, not the other way round.
  • Nobody has to be on camera. Plenty of the best trade content has no face in it at all.
  • What you post is what you get asked to quote. Show extensions and you get asked about extensions.
  • Consistency beats brilliance. One good post a week for a year does far more than one brilliant video.

Questions builders ask about this

Is this Waterlooville Builders case study typical of what you do?

Yes. Monthly filming and posting for a building firm is the single most common thing we are hired for. The town changes, the format does not.

Do I have to be in Waterlooville?

No. We are based in Hindhead and film across Surrey and Hampshire. We have written up marketing for builders in Waterlooville and the surrounding towns separately.

What does it cost?

Social content starts at £799 a month. What a one-van operation needs and what a firm running several crews needs are very different, so we quote after a conversation rather than off a price list.

How much of my time does it take?

The filming day, and that is mostly us following the work. Editing, captioning, writing and posting are ours to worry about.

Can I see it running?

Yes — the account is public. Have a scroll of the Waterlooville Builders Instagram and judge it yourself, and their site is at waterloovillebuilders.co.uk.
